Has anyone considered the possibility of 1 set of 4 tyres NOT necessarily being being the best option? Given that you have a drive axle and a steering axle, is it not beyond the realms of possibility that you could run 2 different types which provide the best solution ?... just a thought from someone who hasnt done a lot of this !

no reason why you cant do that, but imagine the hassle of trialing and getting it right or wrong!! my best choice for front and back would be; Front Michelin Cup Rear Michelin Cup |

I was running yoko a048 last year, got 1 day left in them, then Im on to my dz03, I will give a direct comparison between the 2.
I want to try a set of cups to see what the fuss is about, see whether placebo effect rules or if they are actually good. The a048 were good, didnt go off for a long time, I felt they lacked a tiny bit of initial turn in bite, although that could be A) my driving B) my geo/susp set up C) the tyres. D) combination of all/some Ill run the a048 back to back with the dz03g then hopefully ill run a set of cups back to back with the dz03g. See if there is a noticeable difference. I have tried the 888 on my evo, my business partner ran the a048 at the time, the a048 were far better. 888 only good for 3 laps of oulton park then go off very quickly, tried to compensate with different pressures, different damper settings, different roll bar settings, all to no avail. 3 laps then off. As for the other toyo inbetween 888 and t1r, well it will be shit. Probably last as long as you do in bed, Mattcsl (2 stroke engine springs to mind) Stick with dzo3g/a048/ps cup/slicks or road tyres for pussy days, My a048 were fine for a very very wet oulton park. |
