Does Simon do the Bell to rotor bolts & seal & nipple set? Why do they look like they need new ones out of interest? I'd like to get them painted this winter once the trackdays have calmed down is it worth doing then or are they really bad? I can't see what's wrong with them and nobody has mentioned it before now |

If you think they are fine, buy new ones and bolts now and use these old ones until they are goosed good and proper. They may last another 2-3 trAckday tbh, they certainly would do another 5000 road miles. I've certainly use mine a lot longer BUT every time I have swapped them over they have looked x5 worse on close inspection off the car. With AP you get early crazing of the disc that eventually somewhere on the disc grows to a crack that runs to the edge. On the PF discs the crazing comes much later and when the middle of the disc starts look cracked you know that next the crack will grow to the edge pretty soon. Questmead do all AP stuff Ps I wouldn't paint them.

They are PF discs I believe, and Questmead only sell AP's. I am getting a couple more quotes from other places before going with the Questmead stuff though. Why wouldn't you paint them? |

cracks
had a rear brake grumble at Donny (I knew my pads were on their last legs) and then on the way home i had a knocking which i immediately thought was the discs cracked,
So today I had to get the track rims off and new rear pads so I checked and found cracks in the inside face of both discs, 4 cracks in one side (watch out for the inside face going first) Luckily had another set of rear AP discs ready so I decided to change them myself. Managed to get the two bolts out and back in and didnt break anything! New set of rear RS29 as well and Competition alloys back on for trip out tomorrow,

That's properly shocking especially seeing as the discs seem fine other than that!
Simon from Questmead sorted it all out in the end, great service and a friendly guy. Brakes felt better than ever at Donington |

Front face of both discs look ok, but back face has quite a few big cracks. Heat build up maybe ? Pads were wearing evenly to the metal
