A genuine racing hero of the highest order! He made out-dated P3's and 158 Alfetta's do things they had no right too. Beating the Merc's at Nurburgring in 1935 was astounding!

Hi,
Nuvolari was the Senna of his era. Hard to compare different decades in Motorsport, but some rate him as the all time Number 1. For me its the point that Great Drivers are born that way, its not a skill you learn and then get better at with practice, although some believe they do. You can not teach somebody how to 'feel' what a car is doing, to the extent that Senna could pit after 1/2 laps and then say which tyres were under or over inflated but more alarmingly how much pressure to put in or take out of each tyre !!! There is no training in the world that can teach that. Regards, The Gorilla. |

Hi,
Cosworth KF V6 Engine. All Alloy 2.5 Ltr V6 weighs 110 kg. Makes 510 BHP at 10,600 rpm. 2500 km between rebuilds. Used by Team Opel in the 2005/6 DTM Calibra's and also by Andy Burton in his Space Frame Rally Pug 306. Link to the Burton Car when it had the Cosworth KF V6 still fitted. No mistaking a the unique sound of a Flat Plane Crank. 2.5 Ltr Race engine's today still struggle to give the performance of this gem. Regards, The Gorilla. I love the story (from Richard Williams' bio of Ferrari) of Nuvolari cutting through a petrol station forecourt at near full tilt to gain an advantage. Think it might have been on the Targa Florio, and he did it twice
Afterwards, the gap between pump and kiosk was measured as being inches wider than the car |
