the irony is that nick is questioning his own sanity!

the wheels have been cast with a 12 mm thicker hub section so no need to use wheel spacers .both sets have been tested before painting ,x ray etc and are ok .magnesium has been used in wheels for years ,minilite etc but is costly.it is stronger than alloy but prone to brake dust corrosion if left on for a while .

CosmicBoy I dare say the 470 mile car I sold three years ago which I bought out of a private collection was as good a car but Im not in to spitefull chatter I just mearly thought I knew prices of these from the 44 different CSLs Ive sold. I also didnt realise that making the car in to something you couldnt drive would attract such a huge premium. How many hours does it take do detail it to this level and do you need to renew all the parts that deteriorate like the bonnet catches , wheels, tyres, brakes etc , If so it would make more sence for the high value. Hats off to you for such a clean car its certainly the cleanest one I know of now out there. Just need to know If I get a car with similar mile's on what I need to do and what time need's to be spent on the car to attract that sort of price.

Also the only reason I price my cars as I do is from the previous models I have sold. I try as much as possible to preach that these cars dont loose their value and if you dont drive them and theyll go up in value in the future so If you own a CSL surely I must be helping the values of these. If I started working on really small margins it would damage the prices of these as usually I always have about 15-25% of the CSLs on the market at any one time.

Shame theres a bad vibe from this as nothing bad was intended. Good luck with the 5k car Cosmic Boy.What price do you recon the three people will be willing to pay for that one. Looks like you've got a better source than I for the very low milers

hi nick, just read the private mail you sent me ,no you havent upset me at all mate ,personally i think ur a canny chap as we spoke a couple of years ago at length about low mile csl,s and it was just before i found the 2995 mile example ,i can remember you saying at the time that you,d sold a 400 mile car ,isle of man rings a bell .i was thankful for the advice you gave back then .
as with any car tho ,manufacturers try to make them as cheaply as they can and skimp if at all possible .hence hardly any paint in engine compartment ,boot area and underneath.even a new car with no miles on will develop rust on bolts.nuts ,fixings etc if left standing .and the paint finish on the exterior ,laquer depth etc is nothing to write home about considering how much these vehicles cost new.
i just wanted to make the car look as mint as possible ,it took about 18 months just a few hours here and there,to strip and refinish all items to an acceptable standard ,luckily i have access to replating equipment etc so it was a lot easier for me than it would be otherwise .
one thing i found suprising was the fact that not one bolt was torqued to the correct setting when i stripped it ,suppose thats mass production for you .
anyhow hope ur ok with that and please feel free to contact me on anything
michael

Wow I didnt realise that people went in to that much detail and to remake and recoat other parts is amazing. I suppose you are detailing cars to a level where they are for collections only and not to be driven other than off a trailer at a show. Also well done for buying the 5k car for £25000. was that a full spec car? Do you know anyone who is looking for a car without aircon as I have a 19k car in Black coming available soon. Once again congrats on the CSLs sale, would love to have seen it but your pictures are good enough to see where the extra value is.
