Shimmy, can you ask if the diaphragm springs are infact from the S62? That would be very helpful.

I did the valve adjustment recently on my own.
6 out of the 24 valves needed slight adjustment.
Running very good now.

did valve clearance myself a couple of weeks ago , had about same result six just out of spec, mainly exhaust, but prity much did them all,set to just above min clearance,, have to say the far number six cylinder exhaust shim is one tricky little devil to do. Had me sweating ended up taking off cam shaft cap to get to the sod ,, take my hat off to them doing it as a daily job...also ended up dropping oil pipe return copper seal some where in engine bay ,, something to watch out for when doing your own clearances. Really surprised at how little the shim wear was , only appear to wear on under side where they sit on valve, all original shims best part of 70k miles,, never needed to change any in the past,, from memory mine seems to have been put together useing shim sizes 220 to 230 shims,, of course plenty of other shims available,, ??? Wonder if this is a common size that you guys find ,, possibly useful information when pre ordering shims for your cars ..

I generally find that a car will use a certain range of shims, maybe 3 or 4 all grouped together. The next car will use a group of 3 or 4, but could be a completely different group of shims.

Also depends who's been in there before

love the banging head , I bet you come across some dodgy shim work, you really need to take your time checking measurements to get a really good even shim measure across the whole bank ,, I personally spent a gud few hrs doing mine. Obviously speed will come with experience and practice , personally if owner isn’t confident, I’d only leave this to a trusted tec,as above
