I don't take mine out very much, and sometimes think to myself "What the hell have I got that thing parked down in the garage for?". However, yesterday evening I drove through the country on over 100 miles of dry, deserted back roads, Sport on, windows down. It all makes sense again. Mine's a keeper!

I remember I thought about running a track day car after trying the RS6 on track and ruining a set of pads in one day. I was checking out I think Autotrader and Pistonheads and then decided to pop out and look at one in St Albans just down the road. It was SB and look like it had been a Ring tool for 2 years, stone chipped and a garage full of Tyres so decided to not take that one. Kept driving and went up to Stratford same day and saw an immaculate SG with I think 19k miles, ac, xenons and put down a deposit with Richard, a fellow second generation Pole.

Plan was to keep the RS6 for work and CSL for play but after 3 weeks of ownership the RS6 had done 0 miles so I thought better of it and sold the Audi and swapped my wife's Golf for an SMax for the ever increasing family.

I'm not sure if it is the best car I have ever owned, I still have an affinity to my E39M5 which I had for 4 years before the 740 sport and RS6. I think for road use the M5 was perfect and a joy to drive, but I still love obviously the CSL. .

But maybe it's time to think about moving on and getting something newer?
good post shim.. was where I was earlier this year .. love it ..always will but

Would have got it in July 2003 if it wasn't for the 'Campaign Hold'

I have had mine for four years now although I have only managed just over 1,000 miles in it in the last year which was basically a Nordschleife trip. As an additional upside I held onto my e39 M5 which I really enjoy for those long motorway journeys despite its age. I suppose it is because it is so different to the CSL with its big comfy seats and all the electronic gizmos - phone, tv, heated seats etc
