maybe access for only members who have 500 posts +

Good idea tho, and something we have discussed, and I know a little bit on the canary wharf beer night ( before it got messy ) , is a proper members section, with paid ( and vetted members ) where this sort of private data can sit.

Still needs to be an open forum as that is what it is all about, but the member counts are large now here, and we tend to see 100 or so new sign ups, with about 4/5 actual bothering to post and contribute.

So were keeping an eye on this also, and culling the dead wood every so often, won't stop re sign up but at the moment it's all we can do.

So idea's on a private area , what do you think is reasonable to contribute to this , and how best to manage it ?

Password / membership numbers etc ..

trouble with members only areas is half the posts tend to not then appear in the main open section and the site dies with lack of new interest

maybe consider (if owners agree) members section for confidential data and topics only maybe limited to paid up members/over say 300 posts/black ball from mods (to keep Dan out)

Exactly shim, not easy, but 500 posts I would say is worthwhile , probably the easiest way.

Indeed there were over a 1000 CSLs build "world wide" however it's possible that the 800 odd non UK CSLs VIN numbers may start with different two letters, to the usual "JC....." of the 422 UK CSLs, making it possible to work with the 3 digits restraints. Just a thought
we allready wrote in a different thread how it works:
-They started with JB98000, filled up a thousend and changed to JC98000

mine is a old one it's # 21

Whoever want's to know how his CSL left the plant, i could send the data. (like a birth certificate)
Just send a PM with your VIN, and i will send the data back.
It is realy interresting to see how different they came out.

we could print out all our different datas, but with 1400-1500 cars it will look like te yellow pages.

Be interested to see the result

Roland is this then official, given BMW have allegedly denied it? Would help to have an official number I guess.

Still regardless of the other thread there is no register
