Firstly congratulations to the podgy rocket John for winning the modified class and Dazzler for winning the standard, I didnt have a great weekend myself only got 6 laps in on Friday practise day so had to start with a full tank of juice for qualifying didnt do too bad did a low 1-34 considering the car is well over weight fastestin standard by about second and half over Daz plus I felt I could of gone quicker in the Jim Clarke ess's and sunny in and out,
First race - Daz got round me in the first bend after Steve making his usual crap start in front of me then Daz slowly edged away I couldnt work out what was up with the car it was weird on the brakes it was only afterwards when I took the wheels of the car I had the put the front tyres down the left side of the car and the rears down the right!!! what a numpty and ended up with my fastest lap of 1.35. Stillhaving problems with the water temp for the last five laps going into the red and that was with me starting off with the inside car tempat 32 degrees, Geoff Steel guys took the air con rad out to try help with the cooling and put some water wetter in but in doing so broke the bonnet release catch and then it took us an hour and half to get the bonnet open because you need to be able to open it incase of a fire in the race second race - got a little shower at the start Daz got another good start again!! and I was about 2 seconds behind end of 1st lap and I ended up with a half spin coming out of the hairpin and one of the Thorney modified cars got past me which I wasnt too bothered because I was hoping he would take me up to Daz as it truned out he had never done the track before and was holding me up in most of the fast corners so Daz edged away once again, the last 4 laps water temp crepted up again so I was in 5th and 6th gear to keep it cool down the straight ended up 2nd in class. Duncan the new boy in the race did a fantastic for his first race considering he had never been to the track before and had a couple of spins - he said he still loved it |
