RM Auctions just sold a Z8 from 2000 for £126,000 - that'll get closer to £140k with premiums.
Firstly, RM are punting the BMW brand and secondly, something like this must bring attention to other BMW limited edition "specials" - if you know of any. |

Guys, sorry for the delay in responding to this. Bartlett took a deposit on the car during the week and, subject to the buyer turning up with the remainder of the money, it's sold.
For the record, I agree with the comments about the advertisement and in fact Damian and I had discussed that the advertisement needed to be changed. But Bartlett had done such an amazing job at looking after the car, getting it ready for sale and generally treating me fairly that I figured that the car would sell in any case. People looking for CSLs can typically see past the advertisement and will want to view the car and its history carefully before buying it. I also put my car into another well-known dealer before Bartlett and had a bad experience. Gareth is, in my view, the best BMW tech for such a rare car and I was comforted by the fact that he knew the car and was able to address any niggles and generally vouch for it. The service at Bartlett was great and I recommend them. I've been a member of this forum whilst owning the car and I have to say that it's been an amazing source of knowledge and information. Every CSL owner I've ever met out and about has also been a decent guy, so I am very sorry to see the car go because I will not be part of this small community. Thanks all. I also cannot resist a parting shot about prices and increases in value. You're right that my car was advertised at a cheaper price than others. There could have been an opportunity to hang on and squeeze the last couple of grand out of it. But...I've owned the car and enjoyed it, and I've maintained it 100% regardless of cost. Upon selling it, I'm about even - I'm certainly not richer but equally I've experience the rare pleasure of owning a rare performance car at no cost. So rather than taking the APs off and trying to squeeze every last drop of value, I'm happy to see it go at a reasonable price to someone who will enjoy the car the same way. It's a cracker and I will miss it greatly. |

I promise I will look after it. I pick it up a week on Monday. The forum sold it to me.

Congrats MC, enjoy!
Good way to look at it Gregor. If you can get in and out of a car you really liked for no net loss then you've done pretty well |
