Depends on what your definition of 'better' is ?

... new cars are inevitably quick, easier to drive, have more technology etc etc ... doesn't mean they are more fun though

I think it's a looker and progressive.

But should've retained M3 moniker and used M4 for four door model.

Pub chat:

Guy1: so just picked up my new car....an M4

Guy2: M4, what's that?

Guy1: you know, the new M3....

Agree, it will be difficult for a few years - an M3CS could have worked

Same is said about smg, and 6 cylinder fuel injection engines.,

All subjective. And personal preference. I just appreciate everything for what it is, and sometimes a blend of old and new is a perfect mix

I think the car looks fantastic.

Lawsy, the complaint of lots of BMW fans is that there are no hardcore cars anymore.
i.e. the Z4 (remember I have the 35is) is a fantastic car and I would love a version with NA engine (the S65), sport suspension and BBK.
So BMW doesn't make a hardcore version and some of us feel neglected as we would love to see a more focused version.
It would be fantastic if we see the new M4 (what a name ???) in CSL version.
Unfortunately, it will not happen therefore 'we' will feel unsatisfied for not having a hardcore version.

The M3 GTS & the CRT were the last hard core examples - the new M4 will be tunable to be much faster than both.

The E46 CSL was a very special car, not be repeated anytime soon - new ones will be faster for sure, but speed without feeling is not so addictive. Think the Cooper S, Escort Twin cams, Lotus Cortinas, 991RS & the like
