Yep, changed recently.

Ring the number on the BMW insured warranty section of the bmw.co.uk website if you want confirmation or a quote.

Right O! I have phoned the BMW Warranty people, and here is the SP:

YES, you can take out a BMW Warranty even if your BMW warranty has lasped.

The car must have a full service history, but it does NOT have be a full DEALER history, you can have some independant stamps in your book, so long as the services have been 'done in accordance with BMW's service schedule etc'. Mine lasped 12months ago, but no problem in taking out another one.

If you take out a policy today, it starts 1 month from today, ie you get 12 months from 5th Jan. Obviously, anything that happens in that 1st month is not covered, so don't take it to a dealer until the policy kicks in!

There are 3 levels of cover Comprehensive, Named Component & DriveLine. As you would imagine, the lower the level, the less that it is covered. Full details can be found here: http://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Pages/...=ContactUs.htm

Basically:
Comprehensive; Everything bar wear & tear: pads, exhaust, tyres, etc
Named Component; as above but excludes: Suspension, Fuel Inj, sat nav, A/C, PDC, plus more
DriveLine; Engine, Gearbox & final drive only

Some general exclusions: existing problems, any modifications.

You can pick 3 levels of XS: £0, £100 & £250
You can also get BMW Emergency Assist: This is full breakdown cover and a BMW Tecnician comes out to you rather then AA/RAC etc. Full Europeon cover, hotels, courtsey car etc.

I got 3 quotes. All with £0 xs & incl the breakdown cover;
Comprehensive: £1179
Named Component: £981
DriveLine: £753

All you do is phone the number on the link above and arrange it over the phone. So good news all round.

Thanks to Nathan for putting us on track for this.

Just to back this up, I have received an email this morning from BMW Warranty Services with the following info...

I would like to inform you that as your previous warranty cover has lapsed there are a few terms and conditions that you will need to confirm and agree to before purchasing this policy:

Terms and Conditions:

• You will need to confirm that the vehicle has been serviced in accordance with BMW’s recommendations and has not been modified in any way.
• The service and MOT on the car is up to date.
• The cover will not cover any faults that existed at the time of purchase or prior to the policy start date.
• If you do decide to take out the cover it will not commence until a month after the date of purchase. This is for the warranty and the breakdown cover.

Below are the quotes for your renewal. These quotes are on the basis that the mileage on your vehicle is under 60,000. If your mileage is over 60,000 then the prices quoted will be different.

Comprehensive Component Cover
---------With ES Annual - With ES Monthly ---No ES Annual -No ES Monthly
£0 Excess --- £1179 --------------£108 --------------£1101 -----------£101
£100 Excess -£1029 -------------- £95 ----------------£951 ------------ £87
£250 Excess ---£840 ---------------£77 ---------------£762 -------------£70

Named Component Cover
---------With ES Annual - With ES Monthly - No ES Annual - No ES Monthly
£0 Excess ---- £981 -------------- £90 --------------- £903 ----------- £83
£100 Excess - £861 -------------- £79 --------------- £783 ----------- £72
£250 Excess - £710 -------------- £65 --------------- £632 ----------- £58

Driveline Cover
---------With ES Annual - With ES Monthly - No ES Annual - No ES Monthly
£0 Excess ---- £753 --------------- £69 -------------- £675 ----------- £62
£100 Excess - £668 --------------- £61 -------------- £590 ----------- £54
£250 Excess - £560 ---------------£52----------------£482 ------------£44

If you do not decide to take out the BMW Insured Warranty then the BMW Insured Emergency Service (ES) cover is available to you at a cost of £148.00 for the year.

Hope this helps - certainly is a good idea and now no reason to have to source a CSL with warranty anymore

Stand corrected....good idea and the first time this has ever happened I think.

Although the prices seem to have changed, as I have Comp cover & Emergency Service with zero excess and pay £89 per month. I renewed mine back in March.
