CF bonnet is a pointless fashion statement for the majority, unless it is combined with a global weight saving philosophy (IMHO). It also looks pants other than on a bona fida racer (again IMHO !).

On Thorney's car I'm sure it has its place in a serious diet for racing.

I really like the Vorsteiner bonnet, and often questioned if those vents would unleash a little more of the roar of the CSL induction

I just cant see the justification of spending over a £1k on something that is really for cosmetics only and would have a very high depreciation should you look to resell seperately if you come to sell your CSL, or worse put buyers off if you sell the bonnet with the CSL (if that makes sense..)

Your dead right M3ACS. Because of the unique nature and limited run of the CSL come resale a standard car will be worth more especially as time goes on and the 'classic status' surrounds the car...people will cherish and want a bog standard car....def a waste of hard earned IMHO.

I agree to an extent with some comments above. I have some CF bits on my car (dash parts, SMG surround, kidney & side grills) and think they suit the SG car nicely but these are parts that can easily be swapped back in minutes were i to sell...

I don't intend to sell however hence the expense of a big brake upgrade to do the stuff i enjoy in the CSL more effectively. I still have all original bits though - just in case.

I just need to get a second car to stop putting so many miles on the CSL - not sure if that would stop me driving it though!

It is only a car!

Can't see many race cars with that bonnet unless they are on massive budgets, surely you must be able to get similar weights without the expense of having nice weave on show? am trying to find a GRP GTR bonnet myself, cheaper to replace after track action :D

I looked at the carbon bonnets when i was at Thorney and it is something i would like to do in the future.

I would like to get it sprayed in SG and just leave the vents in the carbon.

I agree that the matt black wrap looks mean......

I think Thorney can get away with it as it looks like a quasi-race car, but on a roadgoing CSL, its just a bit of a chavvy mod. If they did a plain CF bonnet then it would be great, but i understand the bootlid is the thing that saves true weight, not the bonnet because of the structure underneath.

Not sure how much the boot lid saves over the existing plastic one - all the figures quoted for weight saving are compared to the stock metal M3 boot lid.

Good point! Anyone know the difference between M3 and CSL?
