Cheers guy's, seems like the good old simple Tom Tom is worth it to me, just had a chat with the boss as well (as I always nick his TT out his Merc ) and he reckons the TT one I linked to is very good and he paid upwards of £350 a few years ago for something similar!

I don't like over complicated things as quite frankly I can't be doing with too much technology going on all the time!
I use an ageing GARMIN nuvi 310 over here, across Europe and in North America (SD card maps) Really simple/clear interface, accurate touch screen, very intuitive to use (like an Apple product), very clear maps, easily transferable between cars (the CSL, my daily or even a rent-a car) and compact enough to strap onto my mountain bike . Avoid the WIDESCREEN version as they are cumbersome to mount & store
