There is a charge for the SMG update, £50 seems to be the going rate (quoted by my local dealer).
It isn't done as a matter of course, you'll need to ask them specifically for the update.

What?an smg update using a phone and a lead??
I don't know how much info it will exchange before it crashes or even if iPhone has capacity to hold that much info

What a load of rubbish .. there's only been 5 software versions (current 7843255) ... and I've tested this latest one versus two generations before 7836386 (which is currently in my car) and it is a softer shifting software. Smoother shift definitely, but less aggressive by a country mile.



Also you can do this quite easily on your own if you have the right cable and software via winkfp ... it takes like 8 minutes to do. If you are worried with screwing something up just buy a second hand SMG module and flash the CSL Software ZB onto it with your vin .. easy peasy. They are exactly the same hardware wise, just run different software.

I thought it made it less harsh, less strain to the components

Simpsons have always said that ever SMG upgrade has been slower and softer (presumably to avoid trouble with gearbox and warranty
