Unfortunately I'm on a PC . I think I'll have to try the Handbrake software - thanks for trying though .

Think the key is, whatever the platform, get the file size down from the monsters that come straight out of the GoPro, they are massive.

Ok i stick micro sd into the larger sd card then insert it into my laptop open handbrake then import file from sd card then give it a file name and convert it to whatever format you choose.it takes time but will load as long as you don't have time out on laptop or screen saver.then just drag from desk top into you tube crop it and your away.i did this with a 1080 clip which is on you tube now as bmw m3 csl novice ring lap.now i don't know a thing about pc equipment but thats how i did it

Mike this is how handbrake works put ya sd card in then open handbrake.top left corner says source.open file and select from sdhd card e.g gopro100.it will load up the clip.says source gopro100 now underneath says destination file.click browse video then add it to a folder add a file name e.g im putting donny clip.so should read c:\users\****\videos\donny clip.mp4.then output setting will be the format you want mp4.below that you can cut/crop add remove bits(too advanced for me)
Back up top press start and away ya go its decoding

Mike, I've used a GoPro for a couple of years on a PC and never had a problem. I just hook it up into the USB port, and either load it onto the laptop using Windows Explorer, or directly onto YouTube by navigating to the GoPro device as an external drive. I do this with 25 minutes + of footage. Using windows explorer to navigate to the drive is the easiest way, I find.

I won't bore you with the tribulations I've had with VBox video...

Mike when I had a PC I used to open the files in Windows Movie Maker. Edit it (you don't have too) then save as HD and it reduced the file size by over half

The "Handbrake" software has reduced the size down to 556MB (down from 3.3GB), so fingers crossed it will upload this time (245mins to wait to see if it is successful ).

I've also tried the Windows Movie Maker and that cut it to 59MB, but it lost a huge amount of quality (although I may have saved it wrong, as I couldn't find the HD format, so saved it as the best version to play on the computer), along with making the image squashed (again was probably me not selecting the correct "size" - but that is because I had no idea what to set it to LOL).
