It is possibly dry solder joints that may need another dab of solder on the radio unit or something more technical within. I got a replacement unit on my e39 a few years ago as it would not switch off.

I had a weird issue where the heater controls just wouldn't turn off - i noticed you mentioned yours won't turn off - for me I just disconnected the battery for a few minutes and it's been fine ever since - might be worth a shot.

Remove the headunit and check the permanent and ignition feeds. Usually red and yellow. If they have been swapped, for when installing an aftermarket radio, then this will be the cause. It should be obvious to spot one head unit is out. Does it keep time, and radio stations? |
