Default Bit of help for a newbie

Hi guys,

First post, despite having a CSL for years. So go easy.

Nice to meet you all.

Can anyone recommend some really good people who can:

1. Repair the CSL's wheels (few small kerb chips)
2. Do a front bumper re-furb (quite a few stone chips).

Also, my steering wheel is now just about as smooth as a baby's bum. Can anyone recommend how it can regain its fluffly alacantra feel?!

I live in the Oldham area (near Manchester).

Thanks a lot!

Hi and welcome,

Personally there is alot of people out there that do wheel refurbs, but its down to personal preference when getting refurbs done. Some can be good, where as some can be very bad.

Many people would recommend Lepsons as they have a very high standard in wheel refurbs, I usually take my to Sytner and have them done as Lepsons is quite a distance for me.

A bumper repair is pretty much the same as the above, trusting a company who will do a good job, unfortunately I cannot advise on this as I do not know any painters in Manchester area, you could try your local stratstone or sytner?

For your steering wheel I would highly recommend Royal Steering Wheels, speak to Jack and he will sort you out. His price is £130 for a full restore, and you can choose if you want extra padding or for OEM style.

Regards
Thomas

Firstly, welcome

Lepsons www.lepsons.com have a good reputation when it comes to alloy wheel re-furbs or there is Team Dynamics who do a mail order service:

http://www.rimfurbish.co.uk/index.html

Any decent bodyshop should be able to do th efront end respray although BMW would charge a fair bit of course.

Regards steering wheel re-trim, have a look at these threads about Transcal:

Hope this helps.

Shop around for the bumber respray. The way I looked at it with my old M3 was that you are probably going to want it done again in a couple of years, so there's no point in spending the Earth getting it done - especially bearing in mind that it doesn't reflect light te way the bonnet does, for example.

I paid £140 for mine. Also worth noting is that I saved a bunch of cash by taking the bumper off the car myself (easy peasy) and taking the number plate etc off.

welcome
I know a good painter in Leeds pm me if you want his number, he wont be the cheapest though ! I got mine venture shielded to save getting it painted again, not cheap though. He may also do wheels.
Toplad has just had his steering wheel done, pm him, he is also based in Leeds
Lepsoms.... good reports but they are not all good ask Roly
There is a place in Garforth, Leeds that are meant to be really good.

Sorry they are all Leeds based but not a million miles away

Prestige Wheels refurbed my CSL Wheels and did a great job.
They can be contacted on the following number: 01663 7411 33.
The bodyshop that I use is called A62 Accident Repair Centre near Mumps bridge in Oldham.
Were abouts in Oldham are you?
The only reason I ask is because i'm from there too.
I'll keep a look out for you
