wheel spacer fitment issues!!!

any advice on the following

bought some hubcentric spacers (FK German) from performance alloys NIre.
i specifically bought the type that bolt to the hub using bolts supplied, which the website assured me would permit the use of oem wheel nuts.
Guess what??
oem nuts are at least 10mm too long.

How can oem bolts be too long when a spacer is fitted?

the threaded portion of the wheel nut passes through the spacer and is stopped by the disc carrier.the original female threads on the hub are filled by the spacer securing bolts.

As an engineer I would never view that setup as a true spacer, and I wouldn't use them, I would only feel secure with a setup where the bolts pass thro both wheel and spacer and into the hub. I would look upon what you have as an adapter, not a spacer, as you are bolting the wheels onto what you are calling a spacer, and not into the hub. Out of interest what thickness spacer as there is a minimum thread depth for all bolts, so yours must be minimun 15mm I'm guessing ? I'm bored sitting on a train ! Lawsy ? What's the order of play for setting launch control again ?

I used FK spacers for a bit on my old E46 M3, they came with extended bolts which bolted directly through the spacer and into the hub, are you sure you have the right ones? I got my FK's from CA Automotive many moons ago.

I'm not a fan of the ones where you have to bolt the spacer to the hub, then the wheel bolts to the spacer seperately, i'm sure they are more prone to breaking, I had Eibach ones like that for my Focus RS, needless to say I took them off after 2 days.

I wouldn't use them either mate,if the spacer breaks down your wheel will come off,get the ones where the bolt passes through the spacer into the hub.H&R are a good make.

The type you have is the same type the VW gimps use to fit porsche wheels on, a definite no no for me.

They are not spacers, but adapters. Completely different.

As Dunc says, dont use them, far to much stress on the spacer IMO.

Get some proper ones.

Traction off, set smg to 6, hold lever in upshift position, rev until your hearts content. Release gearshift, bang off you go.

Imagine the knock on effect, cars might push out the front of the train

If you are trying it again, please keep ya foot on the brake, just in case
