Hi Vito,
When you disagree with an insurer on the pay-out value your best bet is to demonstrate to them that similar or even identical cars are worth a lot more than what they are offering. It seems as though you've already been able to find other CSL's for sale, I assume you've sent this in, what was the outcome of this first of all? Feel free to ask away with any queries and I'll help as much as possible, I've been dealing with these idiot insurance companies for 10 years now!

Gutted mate, glad you are ok though
Sounds like the insurance payout is abouft £6-7k out imo. What are they using from the glasses guide (trade/private/good condition?). I think giving them examples is the best you can do really Mark

£24-26 realistically is acheivable
dont settle and dont accept the offer use the insurance ombudsman if you get no luck after you have justified your claim to them for the full value

The Ombudsman has a minimum 6 month backlog at the moment and he won't get anywhere until he has fully set out his complaint against the inurance company first, if he doesn't do this the the FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service) will just kick it out and tell him to go back to the insurer first to give them a chance to resolve the issue!

Sorry to hear that Vito! Glad you are on the mend.
This was my recent concern when insuring my csl as they said they went by Parkers guide. I questioned this as I asked how could they find one for that price, they then said to me to find one as I had owned, they may have to pay out more or less of the valuation I initially gave them. Will they not replace it rather than give you the money? I would tell them to go find one with your spec for sale........ |

I am with Flux Direct and I think its NIG who I am insured with. Do I just email Flux then and ask for an agreed value ? They questioned my value and said the figure of £22k which was in the Parkers guide.

Of course your CSL was worth more than that. I'd say minimum £26 000 but more like £28 000 and ask them how much they want for salvage Talk about adding insult to injuries The cheeky fookers are trying it on with U m8, thinking you've not recovered from a concussion. Using Glasses Guide that's not worth the paper it's written on explains a lot, and anyway as the name suggests it's a bloody "GUIDE" for lazy car dealers and Insurance Co., not the bliming Bible. Tell them if they think they can buy a replacement for your low mileage SG CSL (like for like) for £19500, I for one would like to know how ? and from where ? as for that sort of money I'd buy another CSL and tuck it away for safe keeping
Sorry to see another RHD CSL disappear but I'm glad you're OK and on the mend Quote:
