Default Replacing back box flanges

My car has just been in for a spec II, the engineer noticed that one of the connecting flanges [item 18 on the link], connecting the back box has a small fracture, its not leaking at the moment but want to get it sorted/replaced all the same. Anyone recently had to get this looked at or can give advice? likely the old flanges will need to be cut off and the new ones welded on? this is not something BMW can do, i've been told

thanks

When i changed my oem back box for the SS race one of the flanges broke in 2 .
I don't know if the BMW dealer will fix this .
I just went to my local shop and they welded a new flange , easy fix .
A few friends of mine had the same problem wit there M3 .

When I had my MILLTEK MK2 replaced with a standard O.E. CSL back box, one of the claps on the OE back box was missing, presumed snapped in two. My local tyre & exhaust place used a special Citroen type U shape (in profile) , round, thin, two half moon clamps that has worked wonders. I've done 500 miles since, including one Track day and it's as good as Original. No leaks and still firmly in place.
