For anyone travelling from LDN to get the 0750 Chunnel, Jon8710 and I are meeting in E14 (Canary Wharf Area) at 0600 to travel down....

Tempted by a diversion to the Eder dam on the way, one of the Dambusters targets. 70th year anniversary last week.

Apparently it's : "truly magnificent. This behemoth is the stuff of Prussian knights on plumed chargers, it is a thrillingly romantic design. A medieval schloss overlooks it. There are lovely walks, echoing with busy woodpeckers, along the lake".

Maybe not an excursion for the Munich based members....

I did a diversion last year to The Bridge at Remagan near Cologne only to remember when I got there, they blew it up in the war. (and never rebuilt it) didn't take many photos.

If you do go to Edersee make sure you don't big it up, as 1600 locals and labourers died after the bombing.
