For those who go through loads of sets[Shimmy]do part worn cups[say 2.5mm], grip as well as new cups[5mm]in the dry.

Yes, they can do. My Cups at OP were about 2.5mm and worn.

Typically the amount of heat cycles a tyre goes through is the main ageing factor I think. More so that age or tread depth.

I always think Cups are pretty good at keeping 95% of their grip even in old age. Cold or wet weather as always seems to make them seem worse than they might be in the dry

yes mate, it works a treat but dont put loads on as they turn to super soft and then dont last as long

I've heard 5000 but I suppose it depends on driving style. I have mine stacked in the garage and don't use them on the road, maybe I should as it hasn't been on track for, bloody hell I cant remember
Silverstone or Donny in 2010 when ever we went there

if they'v been stood for that long probably no good now. i can get rid of them for £2 a tyre if you like, i'll even collect them, cos i'm nice like that

5000 miles ain't to bad, just working out weather to get ps2's or cups. or both (but don't tell the misses)
