C63
Evening chaps,
Who has had a good blat against a C63? Its not that often that I seen one to play with and remember having my arse handed to me in the e36 (expected ) but tonight I kept up and outran one a number of times. Not yet checkes the p/w ratio on the 63 but expect it should win. Was this guy not trying hard or is the CSL more of a match than I thought? For context this was medium traffic autobahn so lots of 100 to 150 runs. I was redlining 4th to 5th. Btw - what are the accepted best upshift points? Get the feeling redlining past 3rd isnt worth it. |

In a straighth line the C63 is quite an animal, even more so with performance pack power upgrade. almost 500bhp.
A CSL wont keep up in a straightline thats for sure. I have a good background in all things AMG and M too. I suspect his car may be sick, or just poorly maintained and an early one- even so it should have kicked your ass. |

Agreed - it's an awesome car. I'll be very tempted to have one in future but I just can't tear myself away from BMWs.
Guess this guy just must have not been giving it 110% commitement. Maybe having whatever kind of sport modes etc turned off. Just had a quick look at the p/w figures and it's closer than I thought, CSL: 1385kg / 360ps == 260ps/ton C63: 1723 / 451 == 262 Weights are probably not accurate for all the usual reasons but even so, it clearly puts them in the same league on a p/w basis. Of course the extra torque and 7 speed box will still give the merc the adv. He was two up also, there was only my skinny arse in the car and I was low on juice too. |

My E90 is much faster than a CSL in that speed range and I know it's slightly slower than a C63 in a straight line.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a c63. Just waiting for my sales guy to return from holiday. I'll gladly take it on track to show the csl's a clean pair of heels only for them to pass me as I'm leaving a smoke screen going round the next corner. Not quite as nimble as the m cars. |
