Knocking noise from the near side suspension
following a trackday on saturday the M3 has developed a knocking noise from the front near side suspension. Suspect we hit a curb too hard, anyway jacked it up this evening and when i lift the hub the shock is moving about 2 mil at the top (the nut at the top of the shock, under the top mount) i removed the suspension and tightened this nut up which solved the problem until i drove it again the knock returned. i am guessing we have sheared two threads on the shock? Need to solve it quickly as I have a trackday at oulton on wednesday.
anyone got any experience with this happening? forgot to add, its a KW suspension setup

Sounds like your shock is goosed, the top mounts are interchangeable, it could be your top mount though, fire it over to me mark ill have a look for you. , Ive fitted, removed, refitted my suspension between my csl and m3 about 50 times over the last few weeks i reckon i could do it in my sleep We may be able to re-cut the thread. |

i was thinking of putting a bigger nut on it, this could hold more thread and solve the problem?

I'm going on the fact that there are pictures of them being fitted mid race meet so assume that they were supplied by John? There may not be a a warranty but you could look to them for some good will if they are indeed broken (need to confirm that first).

a picture of the top mount, the nut indicated by the yellow arrow is what keeps coming loose allowing the movement.
