Default Water in boot?!

A bit of a random one this...

My car is normally kept in the garage all nice and dry. However, this week it had to live outside in the manky wet weather we had down here in Cornwall.

On looking inside the boot yesterday i found that there was a considerable pooling of water in the left hand plastic storage panel (the one with the warning triangle & first aid kit) and the left sidewall carpet was wet with water seeping into the underfloor storage well...

Anyone else had this issue or have a clue how it is getting in?

I tried an internet search but they mainly talk of wet footwells within the cabin due to sunroof issues. No doubt BMW wont give a fook and wont do it under warranty either as it is bound to be 'trim' item at fault...

If the water's falling on the plastic storage panel, then chances are it's leaking from the boot lid rubber seal - or you just need to readjust your boot lid again so it's seated properly against the seal: part number 51717899492 (item 4)

Try adjusting the rubbers glendog so the lid pushes down more onto the rubber seal,

We get in the boot with torch and close it, and get someone to run washer/hose over it to find source.

Hi,

Glendog- check in the boot 'indent' about the
same height as the where the number '4'
is on the schematic drawing /rubber seal.

There are some plastic type tape covers
over some holes, 1 each side if I remember
correctly, if they have perished, or lifted
or been removed then the water is
straight in around where you say.

Regards,

The Gorilla.
