AP BBK problem
Hi guys just wondering if any of you AP owners have experienced a rattling sound from the rear brakes which goes away when applying the brakes? This is driving me nuts. Have just replaced rear hub bushes thinking that was the culprit as there was a bit of play but the problem is still there. I have standard discs on the rear with ap calipers and ferrodo ds2500 pads. Could the pads be rattling inside the calipers? Any advice appreciated!

The anti rattle clip will be missing or in the wrong way round.
Search for photos on here.

I had an annoying clicking sound that could be heard at low speeds and went away when on the brakes. Swapped the DS2500 for RS29 and that problem has gone only to be replaced by squeel

I had something similar and it turned out the anti-rattle clip was rubbing on the back of the pad. Hard to explain but couple of minutes with a die grinder, bit of black paint and it was good as new. Was making a hellish squeaking noise you could hear when travelling at slow speeds.
There's an orientation arrow on the retaining clips, it should be pointing up, in the direction of rotation and the convex part should be pressing against the pad, thus holding it in tight to the caliper and stopping the pad rattling... sounds good, but I could be wrong. My problem was, the hole in the middle of the clip was a fraction too tight for the wee removal tap on the pads, and in turn was making it squeak. |

I always wondered which way round the arrow faced ie up or down. Frequently changing the pads for track days from DS 2500 (before anyone says, I have never had a problem with them) to Pagid RS-29s I did look for photos but even on the AP Racing site I could not find anything definitive.
What would happen if the arrow was pointing down though? I am sure the rattle clips are symmetrical in their curvature so .... -??? Pip |

I don't think rears have arrows, they can only fit one way up but They can be put in concave rather than convex and not trap the pad
