Does the spring have any marks on the inside? I once saw on a Evo a stone had got caught up in the shock and rubbed very similar to that!

Hi Steve
I did tell you about this - quite simply its nothing more than a stone caught behind the spring and rubbed up and down the outer body. You don't need the section of thread on that part since the dampers are currently set at the perfect height for track/road, even if you wanted to make adjustments there's plenty of good thread to do so. Unless you're going for the first monster truck CSL or want to slam it on the deck of the next Max Power expo its fine. SMD - on the money |

In any event, the spring seats are secured in place by a number of screws around them which I presume screw into the thread on the outer body? So once you've tightened them that "knackers" the thread on that section also.
Anyhow Steve you grabbed a bargain so just fit them and enjoy them. |
