AP Racing Rear Caliper bolt?

Anyone know of a supplier who would stock these.

Looking for the bolt on the rear caliper that holds the pads in. Mine has seized, typically, and before I try and get it out want to have a spare!

Was thinking a bit of heat my do the trick, but this will damage the paint, any other suggestions??

The bolt will be fine - its more likely to do damage to the thread in the calliper, as it is aluminium. When you do get it out, remember to put a small blob of copper slip on it.

If you use a hair drier, this should warm the alloy up enough to not damage the paint. You could also remove the calliper and lay it on its side on top of a bucket (so not to stretch the hose) and spray some Plus gas / WD40 in the threads, so that it can soak in?

I replaced my anti-rattles and bolts last year due to the amount of action theyd seen, just wanted clean threads for the aluminium helicoils to stop them cross threading

The problem is caused with the age old issue of corrosion in the thread but as said if you re-build with copper slip it will prevent it happening again. If Questmead cant help you try Techcraft motorsport.

Questmead, but not sure they stock them.
Mine was seized last year. Bolt undid from thread but would not budge through tube sleeve. Applied heat to try and free it but no luck.
Ended up having to cut through sleeve & bolt to remove.

REAR AP

Bolt - # CP3439-110

Tube Sleeve - # CP5144-144

Helicoil for bolt (# CP3439-110) - # CP3714-116 (M8 x 1.25)

Copper grease new bolt generously prior to fitting inside new sleeve.

How does the helicoil fit into the caliper?? This is not my area of expertise!

When you say its seized where is it getting stuck? Has it undone at all or is bolt just turning with tube sleeve?

Your coil may be ok - thats if bolt passes the coil without damaging it but getting stuck after inside the sleeve. Mine took part of the coil off and I had to cut it to stop it spreading (as you can see in pic 1). The other half of the coil was secure so I refrained from installing a new one at the time.

What I would do is remove old bolt and sleeve and inspect what is needed. I would then order the bolts & sleeves only. (Note - New sleeves will most probably need filing down on one end slightly to make it easier to go in & recommended if you have freshly painted calipers).

If you need to to re-coil. I would buy a thread repair kit as part # CP3714-116 from AP is just the heli-coil so you would need tap, bit & breaker tools afterwards.
Many kits available online. For example one being 'Neilsen'. You need M8 x 1.25 x 10.8mm.

Helicoil is a brand that make thread inserts - a way of repairing a damaged - rounded thread in a softer material, you insert the springlike new coil into hole. which grips the old, and with a bolt in holds everything securely

Ah cheers guys this makes sense! No the bolt head turns about 1/4 and feels quite spongy I can see the rear of the bolt and it does not move at all when turning the head....

I don t think it is stuck in the cylinder I think it is stuck in the thread in the caliper....

Am going to try a butane torch on the cylinder so to avoid damaging the caliper am hoping this will heat up the bolt and then help to loosen it in the thread....failing that I will take it to someone I think!

Heating up the bolt will expand the bolt tho???

Plus gas is a good dismantling fluid, that and giving the bolt head a good crack, whilst supporting the back side of the caliper...
