Booked in end of July for a front end tart up on the paint. It isn't in a drastic state but, being a picky git, I want it right.

Then off to Paintshield mid August for the self repairing protective film for the front bumper / spoiler and also the bit of the bonnet from the top of the kidney grilles down.

Then into a Gtechnic detailer in Derby at the end of August for a 2 stage machine polish, coating of the Crystal Lacquer stuff followed by one of the EXO stuff, windows done and the wheels done.

No wonder I've never got any money
A lot of work will you ever drive it after all the detail work is completed.

I will do Craig, without a doubt.

Somewhere earlier in this thread a poster said a high end paint job "might" make it unusable plus various other posts elsewhere on the forum have rightly said that stone chips are unavoidable.

For that reason have been to see a painter who was recommended to me by a car dealer who's a mate and knows what I want, the cost is reasonable so will still be happy to use the car.

The paintshield film (SunTek) is purely to keep it looking tidy as long as possible.

Going down the gTechnic route to make keeping clean a bit easier, had the C5 stuff on the wheels of my previous car and found it to be outstanding. Have plenty of time when at work to trout about the internet and looked at many different routes but as said, went for the gTechnic.

In general regarding car usage, the first 12 months consisted of various trips to Barts (250 mile round trip) and, with the excitement of the car, going to collect a take-away in it, any excuse to drive it really! It's still only done 4400 miles in 14 months Although I'd happily drive it every day, I'm also happy now for it to become a high day and sunny day car. I'm away for work 6 months of the year plus I have a runabout for everyday use when home.

Sadly enough, when I'm at home, I'm still happy to go into the garage with a coffee just to look at it. Emma thinks old age has got to me and I've gone nuts.

I looked at it Ian, various reasons however, being bored with the car wasn't one of them.

Spoke to Barts and NJ and they both gave me a price that they said it would sell easily for and it was exactly the same!. It would've meant though that I'd have had to chuck a few sheckles in to go the route I was thinking off...and I had no wish to do that.

Have to come to the conclusion I just needed to relax a bit about its value and not be so sodding nervous about harming that value. Keep in mind it was bought as an investment, the fact that it's one of my all time favourite cars (that I could afford) just happens to be a bonus.

To be honest, I'm delighted with the value they gave me so no complaints on that score.

Painting done, tremendous job and colour match is spot on. Was a bit concerned ref matching but turned out to be worrying about sod all.

Sticky stuff also on, front spoiler, leading edge of bonnet from the top of the kidney grilles down and also looked at getting the front of the rear wheel arches done but ended up with the full lower section on the rear quarter panels.

Just the 2 stage m/c polish and GTecnic stuff to go on.

It's in on Tuesday, looks the nuts already without the gtecnic.

Still waiting for pics from the painter however, dropped it off today for the final stage of its tart up.
