But 'he' did have the FIA with Balestre
Policing and sanctioining everybody else
over that period, not forgetting that the
FIA at the time was also known as the
''Paris Mafia''.

Even poor old Bernie had to mind his 'P's & Q's' in
those days.

Senna was right on the Money about Balestre
and the FIA Estblishment, and everybody knew it,
only Senna at the time would speak out.

Mansell's first year at Ferrari, they gave him
his actual F1 Race Car complete, even with
ECU unlocked, very rare, following year, due to much
''Prostation'' Mansell got a British Racing Green
Fiat.

The Gorilla.

I still think Prost is unfairly classed as almost a second-class driver now though. He may have been "assisted", and he managed to find himself in the right seat for most of his career, but he was still a properly fast driver

Was never a Mansell fan, but there's no getting away from the fact that he was brave as you like. "Il Leone" sums it up perfectly

Speaking of which, there's a great story in Richard Williams' biography of Ferrari about Nuvolari overtaking a competitor through the forecourt of a petrol station, twice! Measured afterwards, there were only inches to spare either side of the car between the kiosk and the pumps

Hi,

Yes, Nuvolari had calculated that
through the ''Pumps'' was the shorter
route, its a sublime piece of Motorsport
history.

Bit like Senna / Bernie story at Spa,

Extract-

A famous account is at Spa, where Bernie was standing very close to the guardrail at a very fast corner. Lap after lap Senna would edge his car closer and closer to the barrier to "test" the courage of Ecclestone. Ecclestone later described how incredible he had found Senna's car control as he ended up tapping the barrier with the tires at 320km/h (198 mp/h) lap after lap.

Regards,

The Gorilla.
