Understanding CSL is a sellers market with demand outstripping supply and re-calibrating your expectations may help with your quest. BTW... The ideal CSL you describe above start @ £40K

CSL on ebay
Hi to all csl members,I have just registered so to clear a few things up and answer some questions.
The mysterious M3 CSl that keeps appearing on Ebay and Pistonheads belongs to me. I joined because I have been reading your kind and not so kind words. The CSL has been in my ownership for 5 years ,it has never been tracked as it's been under a BMW warranty all of it's life from when it left the showroom. In my ownership it has had the SMG pump replaced and the dreaded rear end floor to chassis has been entirely replaced (not repaired) but replaced. 23 months ago the CSL suffered from a misfire and BMW Southampton diagnosed the fault as being a small fragment of the head gasket going into one of the cylinders thus scoring the outer wall and this meant a new engine,luckily for me it could be done under warranty. The engine tooks 14 months to arrive from Germany and the last 9 months were due to BMW Southampton taking their time over my CSL. Whilst the CSL was in their care it wasn't very well looked after and was left under a tree with no cover over it,this caused the bonnet to be chipped. Whilst in their care rust bubbles appeared on one of the wheel arches and corrosion appeared on the driver's door mirror,because the car was left outside for months these problems were never remedied nether did BMW alert me of the problems. When I got the CSL back at the starting of June I thought if I listed on Ebay then someone else could have the pleasure of driving a cheap zero mileage engined CSL and maybe do the work that was needed when cash allowed. But this has not been the case, instead I have had criticism,scam adverts and unpleasant words. When listing for the first time I sort professional advice on what to list at and to tell the truth the fist gent that looked said that it was mechanically sound just had body work issues. The second gent decided that with all his other cars in his collection the CSL would be a bit expensive to insure for track use. I have decided to spend a few thousand pounds on to get it to a showroom condition because that seems to be only reason that's letting it down. It is on Pistonheads for £37k it might be a 'pie in the sky' figure but I am open to offers. With CS's now at a minimum of £20k and there's a 100k miler on Pistonheads for £20k then surely if my CSL was on it's original engine and in it's condition now ,it's going to be worth £25k plus. A quote from an article on Pistonheads. CSLs have been going up and up since bottoming out at around £25K a few years back. There aren't any below £30,000 now with low mileage cars comfortably above £40,000; indeed, those hoping to grab a CS fairly cheaply will be disappointed as rising CSL values have pulled the former up to c. £20K. Probably doing the right thing getting it looking good.
As for the new engine, I would have thought this to be a bonus. Some CSLs have had some stresses put on their engines so I would have thought a new one would appease a new buyer, especially one put in under warranty. I might be biased though An easy job to post the v5 off to get the engine number changed. |

You would think having a new engine would be be a pleaser but no I think if it was on sale with showroom condition bodywork and an 89000 mile engine I would be inundated with offers. |

An answer to J2LTB .
I was advised from a CSL specialist that if I was running Cup tyres then I should use 265-30-19 on the rear but for road use , use Continentals on 265-35-19. |

BMW Southampton have paid in a way but not for the bodywork because they are saying the rust was already there before they took procession of the car.
They paid for new brake discs,calipers and pads front and rear and new suspension on the rear ,also a new battery.because the car was sat in one position for several months. |
