I prefer to think of myself as a racist rather than a snob .

Anyone actually tried these ?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-...ht_7455wt_1155 It's hard to tell if they are wide enough and clamp both part effectively. If not, I might be the guinea-pig. |

Hi lads I'll jump in on the debate.
I bought the Peugeot 66mm clamps this weekend. I've tried to fit them with little success . There's a crack on the flange on the inner middle section. The outer insert section won't even clamp up. I'm dissapionted waste of £4.57 lol Now what to do before Germany :-/ help ??? |

Crack on the flange doesn't sound good....I'm not sure what complication that adds. Might also mean it's blowing and a (very strict) MOT fail I guess.
I've need trawling for a while on this one. As far as I can tell your options are : - Buy a new/used backbox - Use opportunity to buy a Supersprint replacement (assume you don't fancy either of those...) - Buy OEM flanges and gaskets from BMW. Get the flanges cut professionally, re-attach, bolt back up and away you go. - Get the pugueot clamps, just looks a bit inadequate to me (although better than rusty clamps holding nothing together). And you've tried it. - Get the ebay jobs I've linked to above (that's what I am trying first) - Get something specifically made of someone on cutters, either SS or titanium. Can't see anything available at present though - Get the pipes cut, sleeve them then re-clamp. - Turn up at an exhaust specialist/garage and ask them to sort it Personally I wouldn't weld the back box to the centre section, but people have. |

I rang JP EXHAUSTS in Macclesfield And they couldn't get me in till May 23rd. They are brilliant but not the day before Germany. I'm not going down the after market route as I love the noise as it now. Mind you it's louder because of the slight leak. How much are the BMW repair items ? |

We have a set of aftermarket clamps machined for us here at Munich Legends.
The kit consists of 3 oversized clamps with shim inserts, and a final standard clamp from BMW. All the bolts are also included. The most time consuming part is removing the old clamps, once this is done the new parts fit straight on, no hassle. We've been using them for a year now with no problems. Be interesting to see how long they last! They're the best we've seen yet, so will continue to use them. I can upload a photo tomorrow from work if you like? |

Cheers Monkey. Yes you can upload the pics I'm sure it will benefit me and others. So is this a no cut method ? How much is the kit supplied please.
I'm booked into a exhaust fabricators tomorrow night so he can take a look. I think his way is to cut and flange it. He's done them before. |
