This fan will always be on once the water hits something like 90, or you have AC on. So to check if you fan is working or not just run your car, turn AC on and check if the fan is spinning. If it isn't that is the reason for high water temps. |

If it overheats stationary your fan could be culprit, but once moving the fan is taken out the equation. Esp at the speeds he reaches on track. So in Shimmys case the fan is out the equation. I see your point, but if you car didn't have AC it also wouldn't allow have the massive AC rad and fan blocking the airflow. Your point is very valid about the airflow at speed etc, but would it not be that the heat is rising on corners and in dirty air situations as this fan is just sitting stationary disrupting the flow and there is also less direct cooling in corners due to the angle?
Just an idea for shimmy to check out really. |

Normal driving was fine, but after 6 laps on track the temp would rise and then it would chuck water into the expansion tank (seperate tank (evo 9)) Let it cool and normal driving all was fine again, after various tests and replacement of different parts the cylinder head seems to be the root cause. It was crack tested/pressure tested and all tested fine. A bizarre one. |

Rational is good. Be interesting to see the outcome as his headgasket has already gone once?
Sounds like the easiest solution for shimmy is to turn his AC off while tracking! |

My car never overheats.
Even in Italy+Germany with constant high speeds and high env temp, it will never pass the middle. It's not normal to have water temp above the middle whatsoever. The AC radiator shouldn't affect the cooling performance of the normal radiator. Have you ever changed your radiator shimmy ? |

Sorry to hear your having problems Shim and i hope it's an easy fix.
Mine temp stays at 12 o clock no matter how long i stay on track for. I have seen oil temp 125 a couple of times.
