No idea mate, but it's never 'gone forever and come back' before!

A bit naughty of them to just close without even putting notice of it on the site - a lot of people contributed money towards its running costs (myself included)

Notice now on the site. It's officially closed. Sad day if you ask me. It was a truly enjoyable site where I met some really good people. Real shame.

I think Matt's time on that site wouldn't ever have been paid back by any contributions!

I tell you this much guys, this site wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for Mtorque. The CSL became an icon first and foremost on that site. Elliott (spineonabap on here), Steved, Angus, Chalkie, Ben and lots of others including myself bought CSLs as a result of the site and these guys along with the site made the CSL the icon it is today.

That's a real shame, I spent far too much time on that site..not just for car stuff either. There were many intelligent, helpful bods over on it..wonder where they'll all go to?!

Agree that it was a bit naughty to just shut it with no notice..I had some info in PM's etc I could do with...might email him.

I thought the spat with BMW was over, so not quite sure as to the true motives on closing it, the thread ref the future of the site rightly had a lot of positive comments in it.

IMHO it was definitely a cut above most car fora, but I guess the lukewarm reception to the latest M3/economic situation/defectors to Pork/Audi etc kept the E92 section pretty quiet, and the site as a whole.

Once BMW Motorsport get back to producing some proper cars (as opposed to 4x4's) perhaps we could do with a new UK based, decent general BMW forum? (or are there any you'd recommend out there chaps?)

Well said, Anis.
That CSL forum was running since 2002 (!) from when the prototypes were first shown to the world at Hokenheim circuit. Who remembers the excitement waiting to hear which ones of us with preorders had got lucky with an allocation?
Good times.
It will be missed.
