By better tyres i meant something like Michelin SS etc. these clearly are the best road tyre. Competition tyres would be cups, p zero corsa etc. OP is asking for pointers so clearly is a novice driver. E46CSL is talking stock set up and advises a novice driver to use more throttle and less brakes. |

He already has cups?
Big improvement in pads and fluid, for some quick guys that is all they will ever need.

I agree. I ran my car on standard brakes, standard shocks@ anglesey, albeit with max camber on the standard shocks. Only mod was yoko a048, and I felt the standard shocks needed attention before the brakes did. I was passing everything on track and the brakes held up really really well. I was really surprised tbh as the first thing you hear people say is the brakes are really crap. I reckon with uprated pads and hoses, that a decent driver would find the brakes OK. Obviously a BBK will out perform the standard stuff in prolonged on track stints. If you drive accordingly you can be just as fast on standard brake set-up. |

Since it is only resistance to fade we are concerned with on a race track - then there's absolutely nothing wrong with stock calipers. Uprated fluid, hoses and pads is all you need.
In fact, a stock CSL is very competent at x speeds to 0mph discipline on one stop only. Even if Brembo did not offer any advantage over stock set up - i'd still be buying it... i love how the car looks with BBK. I've been cleaning stock brakes 10 minutes ago and they really look like something cars had fitted back in 1950s |
