Been debating the question "where do I go next" for a while now.
My thoughts would be:

1) 997 GT3
2) GT-R
3) 996 GT3

However have never driven any - just had a few passenger laps in the 997 GT3 with PCCBs round the ring and it was stunning. (Would think that the RS's would be a little too hardcore for the road.)

Cost also must be a factor with the 997 GT3 being 20k more than the others. On a value for money basis surely the GT-R wins hands down????

Someone on here must have 1st hand experience of all/most of the above? If so how do the GT3s compare with the GT-R?

I love GTR's but would only use one as a daily drive with moderate ring use, never a full on track weapon. Ive heard some alarming tales on how much these things cost if you are doing lots of track days

I laughed but it felt like I cheated, then got a nice Nissan flavoured bill for my post track day service and inspection.

It is the car and not the driver - if you are brave you are fast.

GTR.......... big big running costs if uk car, if jap import then little better, as you can service yourself and no need for silly nissan pre/post checks. Tyres are silly money too. Would be awesome, but they are too detached, I felt this way in my evo.

GT3, etc..... im a one armed gimp, thats them out the window(id love one though as curly says if only in PDK)

I would love a superleggera(radders you lucky fucker), bit out my range at the minute, although I nearly bought a gallardo 3 years ago. Just a normal one mind.

Its a hard choice for me being gearbox limited. I probably wont even bother getting something else when the csl goes, I'll have the M3 track slag, and bought the mrs a new merc ML sport. Use the astravan for work. Go out on my yfz450 quad on occasional green lane blasting, so no time for other cars. The CSL gets very limited use as it is.

I'd go 996 GT3 (mk2) and give it some Manthey treatment...did the K400 on my Mk1 and it was an EPIC car

as you say no paddles tho...lol

CSL handles better (more precise, better balance) but the GT3 with Manthey is a MADMAN...(got me banned few years back...lol)

Don't even bother with the 996 Turbo...just sold mine after 9months. Very fast but very boring car IMO.

Haven't driven a 997 GT3 (am sure they are fantastic) but there was something wild about the tuned 996...

GTR doesn't really 'do it' for me somehow...very rapid but didn't feel 'special' somehow. For me it's not ALL about speed. Probably me being a bit fussy & opinionated though...

Just out of interest how much do Nissan charge for a post track rip off? How are the other running costs?

Nobody interested in an atom, radical, etc?
