I saw three cars at his place before buying mine elsewhere. One was a little tired but the other two I saw were fine. He does have decent cars in and it's a bit of a gerneralisation to say he's a dodgy dealer and most of his cars are munters. Whatever anyone says, it's great to see so many cars in one place so prospective purchasers can learn a bit more and get a feel for the cars before purchase.

Any thoughts on putting a potential car into BMW for them to give it the once over? Or is the CSL a bit to specialist for your average BMW service department?

A mate did this with a GT3 he was buying privately a couple of weeks ago and Porsche did their 111 point check and gave him a written report afterwards. (It was tip-top in case you're wondering )

It's all about the warranty. Different issues to consider between BMW and Porsche.

CSL - Does the CSL have the BMW Comprehensive warranty? If yes, then job done. BMW have been good at honouring their warranty, even on modified CSLs. No warranty? Buyer beware, and it's not an inconsiderable cost to you if you wanted to get a warranty.


GT3 - you need to do the 111point check to see if the car is elligible to be covered by Porsche's warranty - assuming you want to buy the warranty (if you play the wrong type of music in the car, Porsche may not honour the warranty). The 111pt check is a money collecting exercise... Porsche OPCs are not really knowledgeable enough about 996GT3s to really inform you as to the condition of the car (good/bad) unless they can sell you a policy. If you don't plan on getting the warranty, then an indie is the best way forward for GT3s.
