I noticed it within the first morning of my first ever trackday!

It won't make me sell the CSL though, I hope to be here for a little while yet

Instead I'm going to enjoy a few Euro trips, a couple of official TD's at Ring, Spa, etc. I'm going to save some pennies and buy a car for Britcar or something similar. Maybe a Clio Cup for example.
Here here next year I'll probably do a couple of carefully selected UK TDs in March / early April and then the CSL's off to live in Ze Fatherland for the following 6+ months, near a certain one way toll road

Definately Mark! That was close but I've had worse scares on TD's. Spa in May when the M3 got speared by the Evo.............I was directly in front of the M3 and watched it unfold in my rear view mirror. Oulton Park the other day, a caterfield thing I'd passed decided to try and follow me through Druids..........................and spun nearly collecting my rear bumper! A VX220 that I passed on the same day tried to brake at the same point as me going into the banked hairpin...........................and if I hadn't predicted he'd try that and not moved right under braking he'd have collected me as he sailed down my outside all locked up, heading for the grass!

I could go on but you get the picture. I've had enough.

i dont think there is a major lowering of standards Alex, but the longer you do trackdays the more incidents you see and also the more we are aware of the surrounding cars.

i think these days on track i notice 100% more in my mirros and around me, probabaly due to experience and better awareness, so i see behind me more cars spinning out or loosing control where before i probably didnt even know they were there.

But whichever way you look at it if you feel less safe on track you probably are.

I def feel like i am nearer the ragged edge on most trackdays and much closer to the next big shunt! (are you just trying to avoid me on track?)

You should have lapped with the main group at Oulton mate - I never experienced any dodgy moments that day (except my own lack of talent through the chicane )

My closest call ever was as car number 3 in that 4 CSL car train when we stumbled accross that VW van 'bumbling' along the track just after Pflanzgarten whilst we were still doing about 100mph... Almost had a little poopy stain in my pants after that episode!

Bad things on track will always happen - the trick is having some luck & avoiding it all!

Planning to be going to the Ring at least once a month next year and I don't fancy putting 900 miles per each return trip in commuter miles from Cambridge to the Ring and back.
I'll get a lift back from a mate in April once she's over there and then commute in my daily Dieseasal from then on or fly out, out of Standstead that's just 20 minutes down the road from me

I also agree with Shimmy, I certainly notice more stuff happening around me these days, but that i think is down to me having a little more confidence in myself as well as better car/track knowledge which helps to build additional spare capacity whilst out on track.
