Thanks for the replies guys, getting a second car isn't an option, had enough of running multiple cars for years now, at one point I had about 4 on the go when I was around 21!

I take on board the problem and didn't not believe Andy for a second, just wanted some opinions and options

I could take a longer trip to work but that would probably make all of about a mile and a halfs difference

Selling the car is the last resort for sure! I've been out in it most of the afternoon, done about 60+ miles and had one run of 150mph+ (on my mates private road ) and the oil level indicator is now back to normal and safely reading 1.0L

I'm going to try car sharing with the Mrs for a few days a week and cut the short trips out to almost nothing for the CSL, I have got a good hours drive to see a client Tueday for work so will take it then and give it another good run

I couldn't sell it, it's the best car I've ever owned!

EDIT: Calling BMW and sorting the Warranty tomorrow, will prob go for the Comprehensive cover with a £250 Excess!

Keep the car mate and do as many here suggested, i.e. take a long route to work, do additional oil changes, etc.

If you do get a warranty, i wouldn't get it with a £250 excess as you will end up paying almost the cost of the job itself in many cases unless you have a major fault that needs rectifying. I have £100 excess btw.

U know it makes sense As Glendog said, try to reduce your excess (for the first year at least) down to £100, while U have the option, as once the mileage passes the 60K miles bracket BMW insists on a £250 excess, no choice.

Thanks Rob, the car will probably do a few less miles now but will change the oil more regular, bare in mind it probably doesn't need it that bad as I've only had the car 6 weeks or so anyway...

I don't know if I can part with £1029 (as I want the BMW Breakdown cover included) £840 I can just about justify?

I don't mind paying for the smaller items.

In 6 years my car has had a headlight (offside by the look of it), headlight washers, rain gutters, new badges, rear diff and something to do with the fuel sytem IIRC, Andy told me this yesterday, perhaps looking at it that way it's due a major problem!

My car being on 42k (ended up a few miles under it today lol) I would think it'll stay under 60k for around the next 3 years Matt!

If that's all that your car had, you're bound to need NEW RTAB, front lower arm bushes, back springs (as they're often broken), maybe even a NEW clutch assembly. Keep all that in mind as these are very common CSL warranty claims.

Ahh it's had rear springs, both of them have been done! Andy did say that...

Not sure on the RTAB, I got hit for the front lower arms and suspension eye on my old M3, £230+ from GSF! Also got had £250 for a starter motor aswell on my old car!

Clutches seem like quite a major thing to go tits up!?
