Hey Matt. I still can't find a proper 996 set. I'm afraid I'll have to save up and go for the "do it once do it right, AP" route. As with the cups and 18"s. The car will be needing proper stopping power.
But who knows, if I find a suprisingly well priced set of brembo's I might think again |

Quick Update,
I had a wonderful track day at Istanbul Park yesterday thanks to my new setup. This was my fist experience with cups let alone on a CSL and I must say, WOW ! What a difference ! It is a whole other car with these. Combined with lightweight square setup I was able to best my previous time by 6 seconds ! That is a HUGE improvement considering it is a 2 minute circuit over there. Super happy. I just took them off and stored them for their winter sleep and put the CSL's back on. OZ's will be back on when the trackday season starts early march. Just a quick question guys; Should I just rotate them front to back or also cross switch ? Like front left to rear right and vice versa ? |

Just make sure you inflate them to 26 psi (1.8 bar) cold for Track work.

I always rotate front to rear after each TD.
I found you then get even wear. |

strange thing now is that i dont need to.....somehow ive managed to get front and rear Cup wear even. Also coz of the variety fo tracks ive found that left right wear isnt much different either.

The only track worth doing is Istanbul Park F1 Circuit here. The other local track is only a 1.2mile small loop and not fun at all. Istanbul park is a counter clockwise circuit with many fast corners (famous turn leaning the car on rights. Hence my opinion for right to left switch. |

Cross switch will be fine as Mich. CUPs are not directional so will fit any corner/side of the car so long as they are fitted onto the wheels correctly

Finally had a chance to compare the oem wheel and tire setup with OZ and Cups,
OEM Front : OEM Rear : OZ Ultraleggera and Michelin Cups (265/35/18 Square Setup) : So that's 1.2kg savings in the front and 3.1kg at the rears. Not bad considering 18 cups are really heavier then 19's. So far very happy with the results and the difference in handling is noticeable. BTW, a bonus overall weight pic. Stock car, stock rims only mod is KW CS, 1453kg with full tank and tire mobility kit etc. I know I need corner balancing. The car will go on a nice diet next week with AP's, Ti Exhaust, Rear seat delete, braille etc and then corner balance before Istanbul Park outing. I'll share each weight savings here. |

Decided to turn this wheel thread to a journal of my car.
Last week I installed AP's with RS29's with huge thanks to Martin from MS Motorsport. Its been a very easy transaction throughout Here is the good stuff waiting to go in the car, And on, Needed to trim rear disc dust shields but a small price to pay for this look And after the initial bedding in process, I must say, WOW ! They are not brakes these are anchors !!! Once they are up to temperature, they are all they were hyped to be ! Cost a small fortune but totally transformed the car. Can't wait to try them on the track next weekend. Last edited by Clubber; 19-05-2015 at 10:20 PM. |
