Welcome from me too.

I had the same thoughts, after having a 996 Carrera C2, I looked at a few Turbo's, but worried about the expense of the 4x4 system , Turbo's and Motor.

Also after having had a V8 M3, and looking at going back to the 996, I found the interior to be a bit drab.

The CSL ticks all the boxes, practical with decent rear seats, and a boot, quick, makes the right noises, rare and hopefully will hold its price.

IMO cant beat the simplicity of front engine rear wheel drive ;0)

again welcome, car looks great too.

So went out to the Ring last weekend with a mate who's never been. He wanted to check it out before going out himself.
Everywhere was booked up as the Ring 1000Km was on at the GP circuit so we ended up staying at Sliders, in Dollendorf. Cheap and cheerful, but wouldn't be my first choice...

Weather was shite. Saw some cars. Saw some rain. Managed just 1 lap. Saw some cars facing the wrong direction

Going back?
Oh yes!!!

I have a ring card with 3 laps left on it if anyone wants? 4 laps cost 100e, so that's 75e left on it.

PM if you're interested.

Cleaned up after the trip to Germany, and added the obligatory badge of honour!

This car handles sooooooooo much better than my last track car, with AST coilovers. Cant wait to track it in the dry.

Gave the steering wheel and handbrake a damned good clean today, to see how it might come up rather than simply sending it away to be re-trimmed.

Came out brilliantly to be honest. Will give it another going over, but will be fine for another 12 months minimum.

As to trackdays, I'm booked on at Rocky on 7th March with CD, and am likely to book with them also for a Ring TD end of April.

Have a new set of Cups (from Tyreleader) to go on probably after the Rocky day, as that's quite a harsh circuit for tyre wear - so a nice fresh set for the Ring then!

I've been thinking about cleaning instead of replacing myself. Dumb question but, how did you go about cleaning it?

Simple really. Alcantara usually just takes dirt from your hands and retains it.

I used a cleaning towel with a little warm water and washing up liquid. Wrung it out do was just damp and ensured the soap had worked through but didn't use too much.
I then gripped the wheel with the damp cloth and applied some gentle pressure on the wheel using the towel in a wrist-twisting motion!
Did this in sections. Took about 10-15 Mins to do the whole wheel and a few extra mins to for the handbrake lever.

The towel was filthy afterwards...

What tiles did you use for the garage floor? I'm looking at sorting out my new garage walls/flooring soon.
