Skimming? I wouldn't have thought BMW would skim a head. As said above, if done under warranty, why not a new head?

Dunno think they are seeing if that is the main only cause if so yes a new head ..

Policy with any main M type engine component is to fit new parts , so skimming sounds a bit "unusual" to me. If swarf is found in ANY part of the engine, its an automatic new engine ... I know someone who had this done recently !!
