Default Dead CSL - again !

Didn't think it was possible for something to die twice, but my CSL never fails to amaze me !

Driving home this evening.
Battery light comes on.
5 miles later, tranmission goes altogether and the entire dash is lit up like a christmas tree....

Have to say BMW assist have to be applauded. They were there in 20 mins and the car back up and running within 10 mins.
We think its the alternator

Anyway its at my local BMW agent. I'll get them to sort out the PDC while it is in too as they have given up the ghost in recent weeks.

Courtesy car arrives tomorrow. Should be a nice big bill again for the warranty people to pick up !

I'm rapidly falling out of love with this car. Its like an Italian supercar without the styling

I'm bloody rebuilding it ............

New rear diff, new clutch, new steering wheel, new Xenon control unit, new power steering pump, new front discs.....

Soon to be joined by new PDC and (probably) new alternator.

That is dreadful IMHO for a car that has covered 23k miles......

No m8 it is like mine the longer you have it the more new parts BMW fit to it

my warranty is worth every penny and it is good to see they dropped the price as well and no excess

I am sure when you get it back and DRIVE it all will be forgotten

I know the alternators go quite regularly on the E46 M3. It happened to a mate of mine, at least you've got Warranty, make me feel better for having it too!

Well the verdict...........
I asked them to look at the rear suspension as it was feeling a little squiffy, oh and the RTABs - anyway - this is what is being replaced under warranty.

1/ New alternator
2/ New alternator tensioner / belt (noisy)
3/ New induction flap - not working at all
4/ Rear suspension spring snapped - replace pair FOC
5/ Rear nearside wheel bearing - being replaced
6/ RTAB's need replacing
7/ Replacement parking sensors

Including labour and VAT its around £3k I believe.

Relieved its all covered by the warranty.
So in 5k miles of ownership, the car has had £10k worth of warranty work.
All in 23k miles ...........

Anyway - it will feel like a new car when I get it back no doubt.......

Getting the RTAB's under warranty is a bonus. I looked into getting mine done under warranty and they were having none of it. Job well done mate,
