Oil pressure
Any one know what is normal with standard wet sump at idle and under load? I have numbers but want to know if they are what others are seeing. Only other car I have access to with a sender is running dry sump so assume different anyway?
Ta.

I could test the 'telemetry system' and let you know what my car is showing
Hm, it's possible that the GT1 can display this. I will check and tell you. |

Oil pressure at idle speed with engine at operating temperature - min bar = 0.7
Regulated Pressure = 4.0bar BMW TIS 1141 Measuring done with special tool #90 88 6 114 390 at the oil filter housing (page 10 of the MS54B32 training manual or BMW TIS 11 40 000) I can see this on my autoenginuity tool with the data log function - will have a measure and report back to see what mine is for you a bit later - out to dinner now! Hi,
The CSL, Wet Sump runs 1.2 Bar [ approx 20 Psi ] at 800 rpm with Oil temp of 85, and then runs 3.2 Bar [approx 44/48 Psi] at 8000 rpm with Oil temp of 105. The S54 Dry Sumped in the E30 runs 1.5 Bar [approx 25 Psi] at 900 rpm with Oil temp of 80, and then runs 3.8 Bar [approx 52/56 Psi] at 8200 rpm with Oil temp of 95. If you shim up the oil pressure valve to increase top end oil pressure, be careful not to exceed 65 psi as the S54 has been know to start poping seals at that sort of pressure. Regards, The Gorilla. |

Not available on CAN shimmy, I've got a sensor now but wanted to sense check the values against known good ones.
