Brake pads/line upgrade advice
I've got an oil service due very soon, and am thinking about upgrading the brake pads, and going for braided lines at the same time, on the standard brakes. I'm using the car pretty much daily, and occasional track use.
What pads would you recommend? Would rs29s be good for this use? Will braided lines make much of a difference? If so, where's the best place to get them? Of course I would get AP's front and back having had them on my previous car, but funds dont allow currently! Thanks in advance |

If you're thinking of doing the Ring, this set up will work very well there too. |

Braided lines are 'much of a muchness', I have goodridge but any are fine (they replace only the flexible rubber lines where the solid lines change to rubber around the suspension (movable bits!). If you are having the brake fluid changed then it is well worth it.
RS29 are good on the road, but squeak loudly when not used hard. You can't use them hard enough in normal road use! I have them alround in my APs but std brakes with fresh fluid, braided lines and RS29s should stand up to track use (well better than std anyway!) |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Actually I used performance friction pads and discs on my Evo 9, and they worked really well for road and track. Any idea of cost, and best places to get these from for the CSL?
Anyone else used both and got comparisons? Brake fluid will be changed, so I guess makes sense to do the lines at the same time |

Dan
I bought Performance Friction 01 pads directly from Performance Friction and from memory paid around £320 for a set. The 01s are great on track, but if used day to day, the brake dust will corrude the alloys badly - becomes a real problem if you don't remove the dust after a trackday, and then the alloys get wet and then dry again - the dust bakes itself on! Matt - which type of PF pads are you using? Cheers Phil |

I've got a contact for the pads now, and have a really good quote. He recommends the PF Z rated. Any thoughts on these?

Those are the ones I have and as I mentioned before they are GREAT! for Track use & daily duty. They should be around £65 + VAT per axle set (front + rear) so £130 +VAT. Superb deal. Go for it |

My CSL had these when i bought it. They were pretty good and coped with the Ring reasonably well (running standard brakes). Not a patch on RS29s though...
