Sorting out the subframe issue
Hi all, I need to replace the cracked subframe on my CSL.
Are people welding plates to the original or replacing it completely? I imagine if I took it to a BMW dealer they'd only replace it with a revised OEM part but an independent would weld it? I am based in SW London and ideally looking for a good independent to carry out the work. If you have any recommendations, I'm all ears. Thank you. |

Depends how far the cracks have spread.
Small cracks get drilled and welded. Large enough cracks require a new floor. There is no updated/improved floor. Plates alone have proven to be an insufficient fix. You really need something like the vince bar to actually address the failure mode.

You need to get plates and the gusset cup and interior hidden brace kit. The you need to repair the damage and have the parts above installed. CMP and Vincebar both make great products.
