Default Crack on the windscreen

Have many others experienced this? Nothing has hit the windscreen but a 6" crack has appeared running from the bottom centre of my windscreen. It is still on the original screen and am not sure if it is legal. I know the parameters changed a while ago especially as some seem to drive with an iPad strapped too the windscreen. It did previously have a couple of very small chips on the n/s.

I am insured through Manning so am also not sure if you can ask for an OEM replacement or not.

It may have been the hot weather at the Nordschleife a few weeks ago I suppose.

Competiton Car Insurance replaced mine with an OEM one for £75 a year or two ago. One thing I made sure to do was go to BMW and buy the correct window seal because the one the guy turned up with was crap. Oh and I watched him like a hawk for the entire time he was there
