IIRC I think I paid about £1500 for my SAABs insurance after about 5 years of careful, claim & accident free years of driving, still living in London with only on street parking.
Your £7k quote sounds very much like a "F*** Y**" quote... in all honesty I'm surprised they didn't just hung up on you, like they did with me when age 18 I rung for an insurance quote on a 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang 289 V8 AUTO 2 door Coupe Eventually someone quoted me a "F.Y." figure of £13 k for 3rd party only insurance oh how I laughed

A few have mentioned bhp, but I remember drooling over 70 profile tyres. how times have changed. Pops will be along soon to reminisce over his 8 track sterio system. I think that's what it was called before cassettes took over.

Never actually had a car with one fitted. It was the heady days of cassette players that used to eat more tapes than they played.

When I passed my test, it was the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1 that I wanted and then the Evo 2 came out. Some years later at 24 years old I set off to the bank, took a decent chunk of my savings out and headed off to Italy.

But I still went for the Ur quattro. Looking back I think the Lancia would have been better. The Audi was a big car.

It was a big car, but I'm pretty sure it was cheaper to run than my Lancia was!

Other than a wheel sensor for the ABS (which I was ripped off by the dealer) it was routine servicing. Plugs cost a fortune though. Sold it for good money after owning it for 8 years.

The car under steered and the standard brakes were rubbish, with a capital R.
