I recently, (Last winter) changed all coilpacks on mine at 50,000 miles and during my first run out in the Spring time, car started to run really rough and wouldn't pull at all.

Got home and pulled each coilpack one at a time and turned out 1 (cyl 5) had stopped working. Put the old one back in and it run normal again. Got in touch with the supplier who quickly sent me out a replacement and all is in order again.

My lesson, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

too late

5 coil packs now changed for Bosch ones ...... 6th still waiting due to one of the correct boxes containing an incorrect coil pack ( a grey one that I think is from an e92 ) ... anyway that is now on its way back & a replacement should arrive soon.

The coil packs I took off do appear to be the original ones ( 67K miles ) as they are not Bosch.

Hoping all wil be well

Ha, ha, Baz! However there is an equally appropriate adage for this situation "Prevention is better than cure"

Makes me wonder what BMW do on their inspection services? I'd have thought that they would have changed the coils as a matter of course at say c. 50K obviously not.
