Default Rear View Mirror Question

I have just noticed what looks like another cloudy mirror on my rear view mirror. It is located top centre and has a defined edge similar in shape to the mirror, which, makes me think it is meant to be there. The problem is I have never noticed it before in nearly 8 years. The mrs thinks I am mad as I must have seen it before and the view from the mirror is driving me mad. Can someone please tell me what it is? Part of auto dip?

sounds like another leakage within the mirror.... if warranty get it changed if not there are several threads concerning third party repair centers that can do a exchange etc.

Might be a idea to get a piccy up

Worried about leak so I have already tied a bag around the mirror & placed a towel underneath. Very strange as the cloudy part is perfect in shape, not like some random leak.

Will take a pic next weekend. Lucky Gareth will also be looking at the car in a few days. Hopefully the check up will have a clean bill of health

Th gel makes a real mess of the console beneath, not sure a plastic bag would hold it for very long if it does let go. Safest solution is to unclip the mirror and remove until you need to drive the car - it's easy to do.

Has the mirror been in direct sunlight in recent days? I think that can cause failure and allow the gel to leak.

Not pleasant stuff at all by all accounts, can't imagine it's all that healthy to get it on your skin.

Radar-mirror guy fixes them in the US if no warranty joy.

I have the same problem guessing the recent good weather has caused the damage mines not leaking at the moment is it likely to leak over time?

Throw up a picture of the mirror and we can tell you if it is failing ... seems a bit strange it has a well defined edge same as the mirror ... The mirror is basically two pieces of glass glued together with a gel inside. It is this glue that fails overtime.
